I love your new work! It’s nice to hear about where you get inspiration and that you are so willing to stretch and grow in your art. I’ve been really enjoying seeing Zwerger’s work and some of the others you mention with the kids at the library over the past few years, but I think a trip to the Carle museum is in order. Might have to borrow a copy of that book of yours however, it’s been a while since I’ve boarded a plane for a few hours of sheer terror.

Thanks, Mark! Glad you like Zwerger’s stuff. They actually were showing that Oz cover at the exhibit, and it was just gorgeous in real life.

And I did pretty good on the flight. I was fine on take off and landing, generally fine mid-flight, but there were points during some minor turbulence I started panicking a bit. Sorta surreal to know that WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE and notice all the other passengers are either asleep or calming reading or something. Your mind has to perform some interesting acrobatics to keep the IMPENDING DOOM narrative alive, all of which are crazy.

Nice post Zack. I really love the Wizard of Oz book cover by Zwerger.

You didn’t mention how the flight went. Was it as bad as you thought it would be?

VKBMKL – HA! That’s the best inadvertent compliment I’ve ever got! I’m glad to hear he likes the painting enough to show it off – I was a bit nervous the whole time I was painting it that he’d end up hating it. Kids are harsh critics sometimes!
