What Are You Like? Written on December 7, 2009, by Zack.
A couple of days ago I stumbled upon a print series called What Are You Like? Each contributing artist was asked to draw eight of their favorite things from a list of of twelve categories: animal, book, clothes, comfort, food, pastime, place, possession, music, shoes, weather and pet aversion. The participants were pretty diverse, from musicians to children book illustrators, and some of the prints look phoned in (I’m looking at you, Eno), but for the most part I was really impressed by the quality of the art, especially those by Eric Carle, David Gentleman, Mini Grey, and Emma Chichester Clarke (Quentin Blake, whose House of Illustration gallery project is the beneficiary of the proceeds of print sales, also created a wonderful, if NSFW, piece).
So, high on the work of others, I decided to attempt my own (less ambitious) What Are You Like piece:
How about you guys? I’d love to see some of the favorite things of everyone out there. How about this: if you decide to make your own What Are You Like piece, send it over to me and I’ll collect everyone’s together in a future blog post.
